Javed Ahmed Ghamidi is a Pakistani Muslim theologian, a Quran scholar, and an educationist. Al-Mawrid U.S. was established in 2014 in order to expand the reach of his effort. In 2019, Al-Mawrid U.S. took on the initiative of establishing the Ghamidi Center of Islamic Learning in Dallas, Texas as a formal educational institute.
Since its inception, Al-Mawrid’s aim has been to conduct research, educate people, and disseminate Islam based purely on Quran and sunnah, freeing it from external influences that have gradually clouded the religious thought of Muslims over the last 14 centuries.
This course is meant to introduce to the student the coherence found in the structure and arrangement of the Qur’an. It will show that this divine book is coherently in the form of seven chapters. The surahs in each chapter occur in pairs and each member of a surah pair complements the other.
Every chapter has a theme and so does every surah. In every chapter the arrangement of the surahs is chronological and every chapter begins with one or more than one Makkan surah and end on one or more than one Madinan surah
The content has been arranged in five modules:
The students will be required to give quizzes. There are quiz questions during the videos that contain 4 marks each. There are 2 more quizzes; one after week 1 and the other after week 2. Each of these 2 quizzes has 20 questions and each question contains 2 marks.
The student must secure 60 percent marks to pass the course and obtain a certificate of participation. Students scoring 90 percent marks or more will be given a merit certificate.
No background knowledge or skills are necessary, but an understanding and familiarity of Islam, the Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad (sws) would be advantageous for anyone who participates in the course.
Dr Shehzad Saleem is the instructor for the course who assisted in the recording of the videos, reviewing material, creating assessments and some of the content. Without his tremendous effort, making this course would not have been possible.
